Fred Francis 2028, Inc. is committed to making this website accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of ability or technology. Democracy works only when everyone can participate, and that starts with being able to read a candidate's positions and make your voice heard.
Our Standard
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at the AA level. These guidelines are published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and represent the internationally recognized benchmark for web accessibility.
What We Have Done
The following accessibility features are implemented across all pages on this site:
Keyboard navigation: Every interactive element on this site can be reached and operated using a keyboard alone. A "Skip to content" link appears on every page when you press the Tab key, allowing you to bypass the navigation menu and go directly to the main content.
Focus indicators: When navigating by keyboard, a visible gold outline marks the element that currently has focus, so you always know where you are on the page.
Semantic HTML: Pages use proper heading hierarchy, landmark elements (<nav>, <main>, <footer>), and ARIA labels where needed to help screen readers convey page structure accurately.
Form labels: All form fields on the comment forms include associated labels and, where applicable, ARIA labels to identify their purpose to assistive technology.
Text alternatives: Images include descriptive alt text. Decorative images are marked so screen readers skip them.
Color contrast: Body text and headings maintain a contrast ratio that meets or exceeds WCAG AA requirements against their backgrounds.
Responsive design: The site adjusts to different screen sizes, zoom levels, and orientations without loss of content or functionality.
Known Limitations
We are still building this site. Some areas where we know accessibility could be improved include: completing alt text review on all images, testing with a broader range of assistive technologies, and adding a Spanish-language version of the site. We are working on these and will update this statement as improvements are made.
